Massachusetts employees must be given time off to vote

As Election Day nears, it is important to encourage voting. Massachusetts employees are legally entitled to take time off to vote. Massachusetts laws requires that employees who ask for time off to vote be granted a leave of absence to vote during the two hours after the polls open in their districts. Payment for voting time is at the discretion of the employer. If the employee needs ore time, they may explain the reason why. Employers can ask employees to confirm they voted, but only by asking the name of the precinct where they cast their vote.
